Shivan & Narresh Cruise-Resort 2011-2012 – A sneak peek

1

Finally India is about to have it’s own India Resort Fashion Week in Goa starting 7th Dec and among the designers I am really looking forward to are duo Shivan & Narresh. Not because I ended up at their studio with the lovely Rimzim Dadu last Saturday and had a great impromptu evening. Not because I am in love with the lights in their swank workstation. Not because they are in possession of a video with me dancing to “tututu tututara.” I am really looking forward to their collection simply because I have always admired their über haute swimsuits and resort wear, and the latest collection is just fabulous!

Here are some of my picks from their lookbook and their first fashion film – Forêt Noire, a sneak peek into the collection they are going to showcase at the IRFW. You go guys!

Oh hello, let’s go sailing!! – Dior’s Cruise Collection 2012

There are things you love and then there are things you desire. Dior’s ready-to-wear Cruise Collection is what my heart desires and my husband dreads! It’s a sensuous mix of modern and vintage-looking pieces. You can say a luscious reinvention of classic Dior lines. Even sans John Galliano and his sensibilities, the collection is a complete winner! I really don’t understand all that fuss about it not looking “very Dior.” It’s not couture, it’s a ready-to-wear collection for God’s sake!

Having said all that, I am not really feeling the love in their ‘I found my love in Portofino’ film by Ellen Von Unwerth. Nope!

Fake Store. Real Stuff.

I was walking around Shibuya with Fannie Schiavoni, a London based designer, when she asked me to come to this store where she sells her designs. As I reached the store I was more than curious and excited. I had finally stumbled upon a quirky multi-designer store!!
FakeTokyo is a concept-per-floor, 3 floor boutique by FakeTokyo.com. Each level stood out with stuff from up and coming as well as established designers known to do things differently. Each level was intriguing. Especially the first two.
You enter the store and you enter ‘Candy.’ It represents the unconventional yet iconic fashion sensibilities of Tokyo. To be honest only a few pieces here matched my style slant but I could clearly imagine Lady Gaga going crazy picking up stuff.
Candy stocks many popular, local and international labels like Dominic Jones, Fannie Shiavoni, Marios Schwab, Yuima Nakazato, Yazbukey, Gareth Pugh and many more.
Then you walk up one level to ‘Sister,’ a boutique with quirky yet feminine pieces. I saw a lot of gorgeous vintage dresses and clutches. In fact, I stumbled up on a jacket from Roop Kala in the vintage section.
The third level is a gallery that they use for fashion events + exhibitions and to introduce new, local and international “fashion artists” as they like to call them.
I guess you have to go to FakeTokyo to get some real Tokyo shopping experience. Thank you Fannie for taking me there!
