It’s a chair. It’s a coat hanger.

Check out this series of coat hangers called Abitudini, designed by Antonello Fusè by utilizing old chair backs. It’s a great DIY project, just look around your house, pick an old chair, cut off its back and attach a simple metal curve to the
top. Voila! You have a lovely coat hanger.

You laaaike?

Attaboy! Diesel meets Ducati.

031612-2012-ducati-monster-diesel-20-500x327

This post is for all my guy friends who have been complaining that I don’t blog much about men’s fashion. But hey, this time I have got something super exciting on two of your favourite brands… Diesel and Ducati. Drooling yet?

Ducati has launched a special edition Monster bike in partnership with Diesel, an ‘urban military chic’ interpretation of their iconic ‘Naked’ motorcycle. I want to tell you more about it but first you have to watch this video.

The deal:

  • Set against the black treatment of Ducati’s Trellis frame, wheels, engine covers, exhaust system and forks, the exclusive ‘Diesel Brave Green matte’ livery delivers a rugged military vehicle feel, while front brake callipers are finished in shocking yellow to make a strong reminder of the model’s performance heritage.(source Diesel+Ducati)
  • The 2012 Ducati Monster Diesel will be available for $13,795.

It will be interesting to see if and when they bring it to India. I can’t wait to see it in action. Neither can you, I guess? Tell me your thoughts on the collaboration. Would you buy it? Leave a comment or tweet!

P.S: Ladies, just in case girls you’re reading this, let me tell you that if your guy likes Diesel as well as Ducati, you ain’t getting no solitaire this year! On a more positive note, isn’t Stefano Rosso, absolutely hot? I have watched the video 5 times already!

WIFW A/W ’12 My two cents –> ‘My Village’ by Rimzim Dadu

Yeah I know it’s been sometime since WIFW, another fashion week has come and gone, and I still have to do a few reviews. What can I say, I am a lady of leisure! Oh c’mon, wipe that smirk off your face, you’re just jealous!

Now let’s not digress any further and get back to the review. This one is tricky. It’s kind of awkward to be reviewing a friend’s show considering it’s turned out to be a kind of relationship that’s making my husband jealous or secretly excited, we’ll figure that out some other time. For now, I am going to dissect her show into three parts – me likey, me no likey and I say. Yup, I have an elegant way with words.

Me likey:

Rimzim Dadu, is one heck of a designer. Each piece during her WIFW A/W ’12 show was intricately handcrafted and showcased her futuristic sensibilities, finesse and the attention to detail.

The amazing use of treated wires and sequins, particularly the ones that looked like shiny strips of plastic with metallic finish, blew everyone’s mind away. The awe on people’s face was at times rather comical to look at.

It was interesting to see the use of dark, deep tones considering her usual inclination towards pastels. The look and make-up was mature and seductive.

Me no likey:

No matter how biased I may sound but I couldn’t point a finger at her collection. It was perfect! Having said that, I felt that the music and choreography weren’t completely in sync. In fact, the music was a bit distracting. (okay, this is what I meant by awkward!) Let’s move on to our next section.

I say:

Rimzim Dadu, Anand Bhushan and Kallol Datta are the three designers I am genuinely a big fan of. Two weeks before the show I met Dadu at her studio where I saw all these lovely sequins scattered all around. Little did I know that she was going to magically turn them into these utterly fabulous garments. This petite little thing is definitely the one to watch!

What do you think of her collection? Comment or tweet!

Oh, Roxy!

You know that feeling when you come back from a vacation and the very next day you see in a store the perfect dress/swimsuit/jacket you were trying to hunt for before the vacation? Well, I am currently in that state as I just got back from Goa only to stumble upon Roxy’s SS ’12 collection. Agghhh!! Just look at these fabulous shorts in super bright summery colours and military-inspired prints, and the dotted scooter bikini.

These are making me wanna head straight to the beaches of Sri Lanka with a surfboard. Even if I can’t surf, I should at least get the look right. Right? I should also take a post-vacation diet plan into consideration as well. Errrr… nevermind! Where are you headed this summer? What will you be packing? Leave a comment or just tweet!

WIFW A/W ’12 My two cents –> Kallol Datta 1955

kallol Datta, to me, is a little bit of a genius. He walks on a different earth in terms of his designs. The garments from his XOXO collection, showcased at WIFW A/W ’12, stood out in many ways… the way he draped them and in terms of the simplicity of colours, textures etc.

Me likey:

With Kallol Datta there is always a story behind every print, pick of textile and motif. If I had to put my thoughts on his collection in one line, I would say that his clothes are from a modern-day, independent superwoman’s fairytale. They have Kolkata written all over them. Albeit, not today’s Kolkata I would think.

His shows are never over the top but there are always these tiny details that make a statement. The glasses smudged with black paint/kohl with heartbreak as the theme of the collection told me that the person doesn’t trust too easily after a deceit. I could be so far away from his vision behind these glasses but this is what I felt.

The bleeding heart print was my favourite. If a garment can make you feel happy or sad, it’s a bloody awesome piece. And those tassels, I love them!

I saw this red dress during his fittings and instantly fell in love with it.

He’s right when he says:

Me no likey:

I don’t really have much to say here but I just want to share this nagging doubt that I have in my head. When I see these pieces I get the feeling that they are meant for much taller, larger women. Being just 5ft 2, I am actually worried that no matter how much I love these designs I would never be able to carry them off. Hmmm like I said it’s just a stupid doubt. Ignore.

I say:

If I put my nagging mind to rest and pick up a few pieces from Kallol Dutta’s xoxo collection, I would definitely pick up the Grey dress with a cowl neck detail, the red dress along with the jacket and the black dress with a bleeding heart and tassels for those not-so-happy-days… just in case!

What do you think of his collection. I would love to hear… leave a comment or just tweet me!
