Kohl-tastic

I have realized I play too safe when it come to eye makeup. Part of the reason is that I am incredibly scared of using bright colours… more like I am not a fan of colours on my eyes. So I have decided to go all kohl-tastic with my kaajal pencil. Here are some ideas I picked up off Pinterest. These seem simple enough for someone with no control over eyeliners… like me. My nightmares are made of liquid eye-liners so a Kohl pencil is usually like my knight in shining armor. I am going to stick to it.

Bringing Sexy Back – Dresses with fabulous backs

Often, we pick a dress basis what it looks like from the front and rarely for the design on the back. Now some of us are shy or conscious to flaunt our backs (boys, get your mind out of the gutter) and for some it’s a blind spot married to “who cares” attitude but ladies, I suggest, flaunt that sexy back of yours. If the style is elegant, a dress with an interesting back could turn out to be your new sartorial best friend. Now just one advice, there’s a thin line between a sexy back and in-your-face back. Most often it’s not the dress, it’s how you carry it. So ditch the damn slouch, keep the back straight, wear the right undergarment, walk confidently and pull your hair up or to the side. Ready? Here are some fun styles for both traditional and casual wear. Pick what you like and werq it!

Sleepless in Kal – A Stylomentary

I have been saying this for a long time that we need more fashion films in India and that’s why I got very excited when Saran Kohli, a London based designer and friend told me about his stylomentary titled ‘Sleepless In Kal’ in collaboration with Sameer Singh of Jakaal. Now Kolkata and sleepless are two words that somehow don’t go together in my head as my perception of the city is that of a sleepy town but he’s got an interesting take on it and the video is totally worth a watch or two.

Although I’ll be honest and say I don’t see a lot of styling in this and it could have been called a Dance-omentary for the lack of a better term and laziness. I would have liked to see more outfits, better resolution and editing but full points to Saran Kohli for the thoughtful narration and those phew moves! Hopefully this is just the beginning and I look forward to more.

What’s your opinion of the video? Please put down your honest thoughts in the comments section below (or under the post title, if you’re on the home page) because they’ll help him make more ‘dance meets fashion’ videos… won’t you like that?

Neon Lemonade

The leaves on the trees are shiny, flowers are at their brightest, woolens have been dry cleaned and tucked-away, shorts are out, boots sound scary and peep toes sound just lovely. All this only mean one thing, spring is here and the summer is just around the corner.

When your laundry starts to dry in an hour under the sun, you should know it’s time to increase the intake of fluids. Now don’t I make that sound boring?! Let’s just say it’s time to indulge in delicious lemonades and granitas. For me an evening out during summers means a few Cosmopolitans.Hic!

Okay now I am feeling like I am cheating on my little fashion blog with lemonades! Let’s talk spring-summer fashion… shall we? My favourite trend this season has got to be Neon. It’s fun, it’s retro, it’s chic and it’s very very in. You can color block using several shades of neon or team it with pastels but my advice is to use one neon piece and wear it with nude. Neon+Nude = Absolute Beauty!

United Nude Geisha Hi Neon heels.

Have you picked up anything in Neon? Do you love the trend as much as I do? Please tell, until then keep sipping on that pink melon lemonade!

Love,

C
