Bridal shows are always ethereal, magical and oh so ceremonious. I have noticed that even models off stage are a little quieter, calmer… my imagination??? Possible. Anyway, the opening show on day one by Varun Bahl was opulent, nicely styled with some beautiful pieces by the designer but what was with the music?!! It was not the kind of music one would expect at a bridal couture show…So morbid. Everybody I spoke to said the same thing. But the focus should be on clothes and that’s what I have got for you.
I loved those blouse sleeves in net, the use of colours, lightness of the embroidery without looking dull, the super flow-y anarkalis, the extensive use of velvet and of course the Cinderella/Victorian style lehengas were the show stoppers. Apart from the ever graceful Madhuri Dixit, who was there to support Bahl!
Although I am not sure if the lehenga skirts were heavy enough for the likes of brides in India. A little more detail/work on the lehenga would have been more appreciated. But then, to each their own. His show made for some pretty pictures.
Nice start to the show, here’s a video…. Enjoy!
