Restaurant Review – Ekayana, Shangri-La Mumbai

image

It’s always fun to work with people who love to dine with you :) That’s why when Shangri La Mumbai’s Aditi Chopra insisted that I extend my meeting to lunch at Ekayana, the new resto-lounge at the hotel that offers Lebanese and Indian fare, I just couldn’t resist. And it was the best food decision I had made in a pretty long time.

I am going to explain, ‘why.’ The problem I have with almost 99% Arabic restaurants in India is that they don’t get the basics right and already start experimenting. Dear chefs, first get your hummus right, then figure the rest. No seriously. Also, for food God’s sake, stop putting cilantro/ dhaniya to every damn thing just to Indian-ise every cuisine. Just stop.

Coming back to our lunch, I have to admit I was a little hesitant to order Lebanese. But when the food came, all my doubts disappeared. Thankfully, the chef at Ekayana keeps the recipes a.b.s.o.l.u.t.e.l.y authentic and simple. Nothing extra nothing meaningless. Pure brilliance. It’s been almost 3 years since I left Dubai, and finally my quest for good authentic Lebanese food has come to an end. The hummus was deliciously creamy, falafels were so crisp and lovely, tabouleh and fattoush were just so balanced and had only the proper ingredients. I couldn’t have asked for more! Hopefully I don’t sound pompous like a masterchef judge while writing this.

Anyway, Picky is finally happy :)

Collar me happy.

Ever since I posted this album on my Facebook page, I was itching to go collar shopping. I finally managed to go last week when my adorable photographer friend Faiza Sheikh visited from Bangalore. To be honest, I was supposed to take her shopping but with me that always turns out to be the other way around. That’s why I have not attempted to become a Personal Shopper… something a lot of smart bloggers make a lot of money doing. Sigh!

Anyway, here’s what I picked up from the modest streets of Colaba Causeway. Do tell me how you like them and if you’d like to pin them just click on the link at the bottom :)

Hello Mumbai, Shivan & Narresh Are Here!

Even though Juhu Beach and Chowpatty don’t exactly paint a picture of a beach city with women in gorgeous bikinis, Mumbai’s love affair with sandy shores and nearby destinations like Goa more than make up for it. To feed this obsession, India’s first and my favourite beachwear designers Shivan & Narresh have opened a store at Pali Hill, Bandra. I can’t tell you how excited I am about it. I am incredibly fond of them as designers and as people. There’s not a single piece in their store that I don’t absolutely L.O.V.E. Their store opening party was a great hit, the petit fours with their designs printed on them were pretty delicious, so were all the hors d’oeuvres catered by Dolce at The Leela Mumbai. They were served with great wine.

I want each of these. EACH.

So, if you live in Mumbai and have a fetish for resort and beachwear, just head to their store at Pali Hill and trust you me, you won’t be disappointed.
